1.President Muhammadu Buhari, Friday, hailed Enugu based catholic Priest, Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka for his sincere position in the last presidential election, stating that the best exhortations to the nation he has heard from the pulpit was the one made early in the year by the Priest. Buhari made the statement at the presidential villa when Mbaka visited him.


2. Website of the Lagos State Government and that of the Appeal Court were Friday hacked by some unidentified hackers who are clearly sympathetic to Islam and terrorists. Ironically, the hackers referred to the Nigerian government as a terrorist group and faulting the killing of Muslims in the names of the war on terrorism.

3. At least, 60 prominent Igbo leaders met yesterday in Lagos, calling for an end to the ongoing pro-Biafra street protests across the country. Those who called for the suspension of the protests did so under the auspices of Concerned Igbo Elders, Traditional Rulers and Stakeholders.

4. Report has claimed that some unknown gunmen, Friday kidnapped two Catholic Priests at Obior in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State. While one of the victims was identified as Reverend Father Franklyn Odiaka, the Parish Priest of Catholic Church of Assumption (Zappa Parish), Asaba, the identity of the second cleric was yet to be made public when news filtered in regarding their abduction.

5. The Federal Government yesterday, drew the attention of the public to a fresh plot by the Boko Haram insurgents to abduct pupils, students and foreigners for ransom. This, according to the Information Minister, Lai Mohammed, was a desperate effort by the terrorists to raise funds for food, medical and arms supply.

6. Report has it that tragedy was averted in Lagos yesterday when a train conveying passengers from Ogun State to Apapa derailed at the Shina Peters end of Iju. Report claimed that over one thousand passengers were on board the 12-coach train. It was further reported that the passengers escaped unhurt as the speed of the train was broken by a rubbish heap close to the track.

7. Justice Hussein Baba Yusuf of the Abuja High Court has granted former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki, rtd. and others bail. Others granted bail alongside the former NSA are erstwhile Director of Finance in the Office of the NSA, Mr. Shuaibu Salisu and the former Executive Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Commission, NNPC, Aminu Baba-Kusa .

8. Report says following the shocking resignation of Ikunyi Awaji-Ibani as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, the Lawmaker representing Okrika Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Dabotoru Adams has been elected the new Speaker of the Assembly.

9.The NNPC has disclosed that fuel would be sold far below N87 per litre before the end of the first quarter of 2016. The corporation also announced that the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company would start producing petroleum products beginning from today.

10.The Defence Headquarters has appointed a new Theatre Commander for Operation Lafiya Dole in the North East. Major General Hassan Umoru is now the new Commander. Also appointed is the Deputy Theatre Commander in the person of Major General Lucky Irabor. According to the Defence Headquarters, the new appointment is to further strengthen the war against terrorism.
