Police in Lee’s Summit, Missouri have arrested two boys aged 13 and 14 over the stabbing death of Tanya Chamberlain, whose dead body was taken on a joyride by her teenage killers.
According to police, the 43-year-old victim was at a car wash when the two suspects approached her. She knew neither of them personally.
The 13 and 14-year-old suspect stabbed Chamberlain to death, entered her vehicle and propped her body up in the front seat to go for a ride.
When police tried to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation, which appeared to be related to intoxicated driving, the suspects escaped and officers discovered Chamberlain’s dead body inside the vehicle.
Police were able to apprehend the suspects were apprehended a short time later.
The two teenagers appeared in court for a hearing on Friday. While one of them will be held at a secure detention facility in Jackson County on first-degree murder charges, the other was reportedly living at home with a monitoring device at the time of the hearing.
Tanya Chamberlain’s relatives, who attended the hearing, reportedly did not wish to discuss the case with reporters.
