Osun Resumes Distribution Of ‘Opon Imo’ To Pupils

The Osun State Government on Friday started another round of distribution of opon imo (tablet of knowledge) to Senior Secondary School 3 students and pupils in public schools in the state.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Mr. Lawrence Oyeniran, who distributed the devices to students of Adventist High Dchool, Ede, said the tablets would be distributed to SSS3 pupils in all public high schools in the state.

The device was introduced by Governor Rauf Aregbesola in his first term.
It is expected that the state government will distribute 29,000 pieces of opon imo to public school students in final class this session. The beneficiaries are expected to return the devices which will be upgraded and reconfigured for the next set of pupils.
Oyeniran said, “This is a fundamental breakthrough of Governor Aregbsola’s intervention in education in Osun State. It is an innovation that has received worldwide commendation.
“I want you (students) to cherish these tablets and guide them jealously. Principals and subject teachers should ensure proper use of these items and sanction those who misuse them.
“Student who misplaces theirs will pay N50, 000. This sanction enjoys the support of the House of Assembly.”
