Unidentified gunmen operating at Emevor, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State at the weekend allegedly kidnapped a 68-year-old woman, Mrs Evelyn Agboro.
Reports said that the armed men, who came in black T-shirts and a Vento Volkswagen car with registration No. AM 518 EFR, drove into the victim’s house where they forced her into their car at gunpoint.
Confirming the incident, acting Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Mr. Charles Muka said officers of the police have been mobilized to search for the victim and apprehend the suspects.
He said, “On the day the incident was reported, police detectives swung into action, trailed the suspects and on sighting the officers they abandoned their vehicle and fled into the bush.
“When the car was searched, an identity card belonging to one of the suspects at Ubogo town was recovered and he was immediately arrested,” he revealed.
He, however, stated that the victim was yet to be rescued and there had not been a ransom demand from the criminals.
