The two, who were roommates, are said to have engaged in a heated confrontation over food when the Tanzanian attacked his colleague and stabbed him to death inside their room.
Residents are said to have noticed a fierce disagreement between the two and rushed to calm the situation only to find one of the men in a pool of blood.
One of the residents said that the man first denied committing the crime but was later forced to reveal the weapon he had used.
“He at first denied killing him, but the blood stains on his hands betrayed him. That is when he was attacked and forced to show them the knife he used,” said the resident.
The angry mob reportedly descended on the foreigner and stoned him mercilessly as he tried to flee the scene, after which he succumbed to the ruthless beating a few metres from the house.
Confirming the incident, a police officer who arrived at the scene said that they would carry out more investigation into the matter.
“We will now rely on witnesses to get to the bottom of this matter,” said the officer as reported by Capital News.
