Farmer Killed Over Ten Tubers Of Yam

A farmer, Lamidi Adeyeye, has been killed by one Dayo after the deceased caught the suspect stealing 10 tubers of yam at Odogbede village, Ido Ani, in the Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State. It was gathered that the deceased went to his farm at about 4pm on the fateful day to bring home some tubers of yam he had earlier harvested.

A resident, who did not want his name in print, said the deceased met Dayo on his farm with 10 tubers of stolen yam. He said, “The suspect attacked Adeyeye when he raised the alarm. He overpowered the deceased, hacked him to death and buried him.”
When the deceased did not return home by evening, his wife, Sherifatu, was said to have told the neighbours, and a search party was organised. The search party reportedly recovered the remains of the victim where he was buried at about 12am.
Dayo was later fingered by another villager, and a blood stained cloth was reportedly found in his room when his house was searched. The police also arrested three other men; Akanbi Adeboye, Baba Ejima and Olowo Johnson, over the crime.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Wole Ogodo, said investigation was ongoing.
